The Forum of National Ex-Officio (FNE) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had expressed sorrow over the death of the National Vice Chairman of the PDP (South South), Chief Dan Orbih.

Chief Dan Orbi died on Monday August 31, 2026 at the age of 64.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday and signed by Mr. Mue Clement and  Ekom Akonjom, Chairman and Secretary of FNE respectively, the forum stated that late Chief Orbih, “was more than a National Officer. He was a counselor, a strategist, and a rallying point.”

While condoling with the family and associates of the late party chieftain, the forum noted that Chief Orbih was “a political colossus, a grassroots mobilize,” who was well respected across party hierarchies.

Part of the statement reads: “With profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss, we, the Forum of all National Ex-Officio Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, received the news of the passing of our leader, father, and National Vice Chairman, South Zone, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih.

“Chief Orbih transited to glory on Monday, 31st August 2026. He leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, children, siblings, and the entire Orbih family.

“Chief Dan Orbih was a political colossus, a grassroots mobilizer, and an unwavering pillar of the PDP in the South South and beyond. As National Vice Chairman, South South Zone, he provided visionary leadership, stability, and unity to the zone at critical moments in our party’s history.

“A two-time former Chairman of the PDP in Edo State and a former Board of Trustees member, Chief Orbih was respected across party lines for his political wisdom, courage, and commitment to internal democracy. He was a bridge-builder, a mentor to many, and a true party man to the core.

“To us, he was more than a National Officer. He was a counselor, a strategist, and a rallying point. His death creates a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

“We commiserate with the National Working Committee of our great party, the PDP South South Zonal Executive, the Edo State Chapter, and most especially the Orbih family on this irreparable loss.

The forum prayed that God grant his gentle soul eternal rest and to grant his family, the PDP, and all of us the fortitude to bear this painful loss.
