Osun Crisis: Gov Adeleke’s Accusation ‘Absurd’ Doesn’t Deserve My Response- IGP Egbedokun

The Osun State Governor and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had accused IGP Egbedokun of colluding with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to upturn his government in the state. Governor Adeleke raised the alarm while he hosted Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter at the Government House Osogbo accused Egbedokun of endangering democracy in Nigeria.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo through his spokesman,  Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said that, “It is unfortunate and a disservice to democracy that the Inspector General of Police is colluding with the APC to enforce a non-existing court order. This is a serious threat to democracy in Nigeria.”

However, speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday, the police chief said that he merely responded to the call of the Osun State Commissioner of Police who requested for additional manpower.

The IGP stated that, “What we have done in Osun is to respond to the call of the commissioner of Police to reinforce,  we have reinforced the command and we have enough men on the ground to ensure that there law and order in that state.”

Speaking on Governor Adeleke’s direct accusation, the IGP said:

“I refuse to dignify such absurdity with a response, I believe in challenging distortion of facts, we will not allow distortion of facts against us unchallenged.
