Osun 2026: Bola Oyebamiji Emerges APC Governorship Candidate, to Face Adeleke

Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), has been elected the the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.

The former NIWA Chairman emerged as the APC flag bearer after all 1,660 delegates at the party’s primary affirmed his nomination.

Mr. Oyebamiji was nominated by Mr. Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare.

After his nomination, the Chairman of the primary election committee, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, called for a voice vote, which saw the delegates unanimously endorsed Oyebamiji.

Announcing Oyebamiji, Governor Okpebholo said, “By the power conferred on me as Chairman of the primary committee, I hereby declare Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, as the candidate of our party.

 

Mr. Oyebamiji will now face the incumbent governor of the state, Senator Ademola Adeleke who emerged the candidate of Accord Party, haven earlier resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which he secured his first term.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed June 2026 for the Osun State governorship election.
