Nigerian Navy Officer,  Two Others Abducted in Abuja; N100 Million Ransom Demanded

Gunmen have abducted a Nigerian Navy officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, along with two other individuals, from their residence in the Mpape area of Abuja on Friday night.

 

According to a report the kidnappers have contacted the victims’ families, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.

 

Efforts to reach the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, for comments have been unsuccessful.

The spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, stated that she would confirm the incident and provide further details. However, no updates have been provided as of the time this report was filed.

 

In a related development, gunmen recently abducted a Nigerian Army officer, Abdulfatai Odutola, along the Abuja-Jos highway, demanding a ransom of N20 million for his release.

 

This abduction has heightened concerns over the rising cases of kidnapping in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria, with residents calling for improved security measures to address the menace.

 

 

The authorities are yet to provide further information on efforts being made to secure the release of the abducted individuals.
