The remains of a Nigerian Army couple, Master Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu and Late Lance Corporal Gloria Mathew who were abducted and subsequently murdered by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militants have been reportedly found by Nigerian military personnel in Imo State.
The couple alongside two other family members including the Musa’s father, a retired military personnel and a the younger brother of the soldier were abducted in Orlu on May 1, 2022 and were subsequently hacked to death with their bodies dismembered by daredevil terrorists who later circulated the killing in a horrendous social media video. The couple were travelling to Imo State for the dowry payment as part of traditional marriage rites.

Emerging information indicates that that troops of the 82 Division, in collaboration with other security agencies, launched a targeted search operation on April 24, 2026, based on fresh intelligence.
The recovered remains are to undergo forensic examination, including DNA testing, to confirm their identities before burial.
The military is said to be making efforts to contact the families of the deceased to facilitate proper identification.
The Nigerian Army has pledged to give the fallen personnel a befitting burial with full military honours, in recognition of their service and sacrifice
