Niger Governor in Pains Over Incessant Terrorist Attacks

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State on Sunday expressed sadness over the terrorist attack on communities in the Borgu local government area of the state which left over 30 persons dead, while yet to be determined number of people were feared kidnapped.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor,  Bologi Ibrahim, Hon Bago described the attacks as cruel and dastardly act of terrorism against the people of Niger State.

The governor who sympathised with the affected communities and people stated that, ” I extend my deepest sympathy to the people of the affected communities, especially the victims and their families. The victims of the attack at the Kasuwan Daji, Market, Sukumbara Village, are both Muslims and Christians drawn from different communities in Borgu local government area of the state”.

“It is disturbing and worrying to start the year with such unfortunate incidents. However, we enjoin the people to remain resolute in God and my administration is collaborating with the federal government and security agencies to improve the security of the affected areas.

FACTSHEET reported that terrorists in large numbers swooped on Karbe and neighbouring communities shooting indiscriminately and carted away wares and food items in a weekly market, the terrorists also took yet to be determined number of people hostage.

The governor, however, revealed that Nigerian security operatives were on the trial of the terrorists.
