New US Embassy Rule Mandates Nigerians Seeking Visa to Summit Social Media Records, Logins of Last 5yrs
The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued additional visa application requirement for Nigerians intending to enter the US requiring all applicants to disclose their social media handles used in the last five years prior to their application.
The new directive announced on Monday in a statement published on the X handle of the US Mission Nigeria is in line with the US Department of State’s commitment to bolster national security through enhanced screening measures.

According to the statement, “Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form.
“Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.”
