The crisis rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension as some members of the party have petitioned the National Judicial Council (NJC) against an Oyo State High Court Judge, Justice Ladiran Akintola over an Ex parte Order he granted against a substantive Federal High Court judgement on the scheduled PDP national convention.
The petitioners comprising the Hin. Austine Nwachukwu, PDP Chairman Imo State, Hon Abraham Nnanna Amah, PDP Chairman Abia State and Mr. George Turnah accused Justice Akintola of judicial misconduct and recklessness for issuing an ex parte in contradiction of a subsisting valid Federal High Court judgement.
In the petition dated November 5, 2025, and addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) which has already been received by the CJN office, the petitioner argue that Justice Akintola’s conduct constitutes “judicial recklessness, impunity, and a flagrant violation of established legal processes.”

The petitioners while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday alleged that Justice Akintola’s ex parte order, issued on November 4, 2025, authorising the PDP to proceed with its convention on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, directly conflicted with the Federal High Court’s order of October 31, 2025 in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025.
“This disturbing development not only undermines the integrity of the judiciary but risks setting a dangerous precedent that could erode public confidence in the justice system,” Nwachukwu said.
The petitioners, therefore, called on the NJC to investigate the matter and take appropriate disciplinary action, warning that failure to act could embolden judicial officers who operate outside established legal boundaries.
“The NJC must reaffirm its commitment to discipline, impartiality, and the preservation of judicial integrity by ensuring that errant judicial officers are held accountable without delay.”
