President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the welfare, modernization, and operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force. Speaking through Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who represented him as Special Guest of Honour, the President addressed dignitaries at the historic maiden National Police Day celebration held on April 7, 2025, at Eagle Square, Abuja.
President Tinubu paid tribute to the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of officers nationwide, emphasizing that the Nigeria Police remains a cornerstone of national security and stability. He assured the Force of the Federal Government’s continued investment in modern equipment, technology, and training to elevate policing standards across the country.
He applauded the impressive parade and tactical displays, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robots, K9 units, Special Intervention Squad, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Special Protection Unit (SPU), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) drills, and Peacekeeping components, describing them as a clear testament to the evolving strength and professionalism of the Force.

In his address, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, highlighted the significance of the National Police Day as a symbol of renewed commitment to service excellence, professionalism, and stronger community engagement. The IGP expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for declaring April 7th as National Police Day, describing it as a morale booster and a call to deeper reforms within the Force.
The IGP reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to uphold the rule of law, combat crime, and ensure the safety of all Nigerians. He reiterated the Force’s pledge to strengthen its relationship with communities and maintain a high standard of ethical conduct and accountability.
The event drew high-level attendees including members of the Federal Executive Council, State Governors, National Assembly members, Service Chiefs, retired senior police officers, captains of industry, and other stakeholders.
President Tinubu extended his gratitude to all who contributed to the successful hosting of this landmark event and charged the Nigeria Police to stay the course in its transformation journey.
