President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi by one year.
Adeniyi’s tenure was to elapsed on August 1, 2025.
According to a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu approved the tenure extension for Adeniyi to consolidate on his success narratives in office.

The statement, the extension will support the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, accelerate the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and enhance Nigeria’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
According to the statement, the President commended Adeniyi for his dedicated service and consistent leadership, expressing confidence in his ability to further strengthen the institution.
The statement idicates that extension would allow him to consolidate on the ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration.
