ISDEVCOM Scholars and Alumni Association Gets New Exco 

 

Scholars and Alumni of the Institute of Strategic and Development Communication (ISDEVCOM) of Nasarawa State University Keffi have elected Dr. Ephraim Okon as the new President of its scholars and Alumni Association.

 

In the elections held at the ISDEVCOM auditorium on Wednesday the 15th of April 2026 in Keffi, Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye emerged as the Vice President, while Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu clinched the position of the Secretary of the association.

Other elected officials include, Chizoba Ogbeche as Assistant Secretary, Peace Oluchi Jerry as the Financial Secretary and Dr. Prudence Eboagwu-Ijah as the Treasurer.

 

The election which was well attended by ISDEVCOM Scholars and Alumni also elected Festus Ejiroghene Fifen as the Public Relations Officer with David Ogah Matthew, elected as the Community Relations Officer.

 

While Dauda Shekwoladu Benaiah emerged as the welfare officer I, Dr. Wamu Ishaya Maga clinched welfare officer II.

 

In his acceptance speech, Ephraim Okon expressed gratitude to the alumni for their support and outlined his vision for the upcoming term, focusing on fostering collaboration and enhancing the network’s impact on both current students and fellow alumni.

Dr. Ephraim stressed that the role is not merely a personal triumph but a mandate for collaborative service to build a stronger future for all. While outlining the association’s mission to advocate for social transformation, he promised to build upon the foundations laid by past leaders of the association and also encourage each member to actively contribute to a shared vision.

 

As part of the administration’s goals, the President introduced essential pillars that would guide their efforts, including the establishment of a Unified Constitutional Framework through a comprehensive set of bye-laws to enhance transparency and structure with the aim to foster unity among alumni from various fields and create collaborative mentorship opportunities to bridge the gap between seasoned professionals and emerging scholars.

 

Congratulating the New Executives, Ag. Director of thed Institute Dr. Daniel Chikada charged the new leadership to create an enabling environment for scholars and alumni to express their abilities for the growth and development of the institute which will inturn benefit past, present and future scholars of the institute.

 

Dr. Chikada also used the medium to call on scholars to support the new leadership to help them deliver on key promises.

 

On his part, the outgoing president Dr. George Ndukwu in his valedictory speech charged urged the new executive to build on the successes recorded by the outgoing administration to make sure that the institute takes its pride of place as a citadel of strategic and Development communication in Africa.

 

Dr. Ndukwu also called on Alumni and scholars to galvanize support for the institute with their well established contacts in the society for the benefit of all.

 

The election marks a new chapter for the ISDEVCOM Alumni Association, and all eyes will be on the newly elected leaders as they embark on their mission to promote unity and engagement among alumni.
