INEC Snubs Adebutu, Clears Gwarzo as Kano NDC Gov Candidate, Pantami in Gombe

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cleared  Mr. Abdulsalam Gwarzo as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)  in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commission also cleared former minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State.

Both candidates were part of 69 cases involving governorship candidates and House of Assembly members whose cases were reviewed by INEC after they were initially excluded from the list published by the commission.

Meanwhile, a source at INEC that spoke to FACTSHEET revealed that the appeal of the PDP in the case of the exclusion of Mr. Ladi Adebutu as its governorship candidate in Ogun State was dismissed by the commission.

INEC is expected to issue official communication on the new development in the days to come.
