The Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA), has suspended its three-day warning strike, following a swift intervention by the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and his team.
A statement on X page of Lere Olayinka, FCT Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media reveals that President of the association, Dr. George Ebong, confirmed the suspension in a statement on Wednesday. He revealed that the decision was reached after an emergency virtual meeting of the association’s members.
“We called off the warning strike after some of our demands were met. Most of our members have received their unpaid salaries and have been reinstated,” Dr. Ebong stated.

He, however, emphasized the need for the government to complete the process to avoid further industrial action.
“We strongly hope that the rest of the members affected are paid by tomorrow to prevent further disruption of work in the health sector,” he added.
Dr. Ebong also expressed gratitude to FCT Health Secretary, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe; Mandate Secretary; and the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Chidi Amadi, for their roles in resolving the crisis.
“We thank the FCT Health Secretary, Adedolapo Fasawe, mandate secretary, and Chidi Amadi, Chief of Staff to FCT Minister Wike, for their swift intervention,” he said.
