Ebonyi Gov Sacks Two SAs, Suspend Three Commissioners for Absenteeism

Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has dismissed two of his special assistants (SAs) for an alleged “gross misconduct.”

The affected officials are Mr. Nnanna Nwangele, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Airport Security and Mr. Felix Okemini, Senior Special Assistant to the on Security (Ebonyi North).

The dismissal of the top officials was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Ebonyi State, Prof. Grace Umezurike, on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

The statement reads in part:

 

“The Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt.Hon.Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB, GGCEHF, has approved the dismissal of the following officers from office following an act of gross misconduct

CitiHub Event Centre and Lounge

“They include: Mr. Nnannna Nwangele – Special Assistant to the Governor on Airport Security, Mr. Felix Okemini- Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security (Ebonyi North)

“Consequently, the officers should handover all government properties in their possession to the Secretary to Ebonyi State Government, not later than 4pm today March 18, 2025.

“The officers should, henceforth not be seen anywhere around Government House or participate in any Government activity.”

 

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr. Jude Okpor had in a separate statement announced the immediate suspension of three commissioners for one month by the governor for “being absent in the day’s meeting without any permission.”

The affected commissioners are, Hon. Solomon Azi, Commissioner for Grants and Donor Agencies, Hon. Victor Uzoma Chukwu, Commissioner for Environment, and Mr. Ikeuwa Omebe, Commissioner for Rural Development.

According to the statement, “the suspended commissioners be relieved of all the privileges attached to their offices within the duration of the suspension.”
