Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré on Monday hosted some of Africa’s football legends in the capital Ouagadougou.
The event which was part of ceremonies organised by the popular military ruler to mark the reopening of the main stadium in Ouagadougou was graced by his cabinet members.
The West African country is intent on reviving and strengthening sports and sports facilities across the country as Traore pushes to put the country back on the road to recovery.

Prominent among legendary African footballers that graced the occasion are Cameroonian FA President, Samuel Eto’o, Nigeria’s Jay-Jay Okocha, and Benin Republic’s Emmanuel Adebayor.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Samuel Etoó said, “’First of all, we want to thank you for welcoming us into our home, into your home…Captain Traoré is a source of pride for the Africa we love.”
The host thanked the players for what they represent in Africa while assuring them that he was committed to deploying several developmental projects, including sports to liberate young people from poverty in the West African nation.
