Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omoke has been conferred with the Nigeria National Youth Merit Award of Excellence by the Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO).
The award investiture was the highpoint of activities of the NYO dinner in comermoration of the 2025 International Youth Day Celebration held at the Barcelona Hotels International, Abuja.
Speaking at the programmme, the National Executive President of the NYO, Comrade Okorie C. Okorie revealed that Brigadier General Omoke was selected for the honour in recognition of his meritorious service in the Security sector as well as his ” sterling “efforts in the area of youth development in Nigeria.

In his remark, the Chairman of the occasion and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa he congratulated Brig Gen. Omoke for his patriotism and dedication to duty which has stood him out among his peers.
Also, in her own remarks the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike extolled the bravery of General Omoke describing him as a patriot and dedicated officer who has given all in thr service of the fatherland. The NUJ Chairman called on the youth to emulate the General in their own endeavours and aim to reach the peak of their profession.
Reading the Citation of the Special Awardee, Director of Public Affairs, Nigeria Youth Organisation Barr Emmanuel Umahi Ekwe said “Brigadier General Igwe Patrick Omoke is one of the most decicated and educated Nigerianmilitary officer, yet he remains a humble man who listens at any time he is called upon.”
In response, Gen. Omoke expressed gratitude to the NYO for finding him worthy of the honour and charged the youths to remain focused on achieving their dreams through hard work, noting that “if I can do it, you too can do it too.”
The well attended ceremony was graced by the leadership of the NYO from the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT, others institutions represented at the event include the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency among many others.
Gen. Umoke is the first recipient of the NYO National Merit Award in the last 10 years.
