Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu Leads FG’s Special Envoy to Invite West African Heads of State to Maiden West African Economic Summit
The first West African Economic Summit (WAES) will be held in Abuja, Nigeria, from 20th – 21st June 2025. The summit is the initiative and a legacy project of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who currently serves as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. The summit, which aims at injecting increased momentum to the integration efforts of the region, will assemble West African Leaders in abuja to brainstorm on how to tap into the various economic endowments of the region, stire-up intra regional trade and investment, and fashion out measures to break all bareers to intra-regional trade and other related activities.

To underscore the importance of active participation of all West African Heads of State and Government at the Summit, Mr. President has appointed a Special Envoy in the person of Her Excellency, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Hon. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs to lead a delegation to deliver Mr. President’s Special Invitation to all the 15 West African Heads of State and Government, seeking their active, personal participation in the Summit.
Accompanied by Ambassador Olusola Enikanolaiye, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Innocent Iwejuo, Director, Office of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the Special Envoy set out for the mission on Tuesday, 10th June, 2025.
