81 year old Yoweri Museveni has been once again sworn in for a record seventh term in office as the president of Uganda.
Museveni took office for the first time in 1986 and has since continously changed the constitution to perpetuate himself in office.
Mr. Museveni won the January 2026 presidential election in a “landslide” victory that saw him defeat music star and opposition leader, Bobi Wine who was the presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP).

The octogenarian took the oath of office and received the ceremonial instruments of power Kampala, the Ugandan capital on Tuesday.
He called on Ugandans to work harder to build ealth for themselves saying that there would be “no more excuses” for failure.
Why he took office for the seventh term, his son who doubles as the country’s Army Chief, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, paid attention and watched every move of the crowd.
The Army Chief is said to be the president in-waiting as specuations are rife that his father has anointed him to take over the reins of power as the older Museveni and his spouse battles with age related “issues.”
Bobi Wine, 44, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who is the most vocal and popular opposition leaders has been away on exile in the United States of America after he escaped a violent military invasion of his home in Kampala after the election. He was in hiding for several weeks while government forces tried to arrest him on several charges.
