The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has suspended its 10-day-old warning strike.
The suspension of the strike was announced by the National President of ASUU, Prof. Chris Piwuna in a press conference on Wednesday at the ASUU national Secretariat in Abuja.
Prof Piwuna stated that the suspension of the strike was a result of various interventions by well-meaning stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) among others.
The union also noted that the renegotiation committee led by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Yayale Ahmed, has appealed to the union to return to work to enable a harmonious relationship between the union and the government while the renegotiation continues.
