Anyanwu Still PDP Nat’l Secretary, We Are Studying Supreme Court Ruling on PDP, LP- INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared that it has never  deleted the name of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The electoral body also reiterated that it was studying the judgement of the Supreme Court on the leadership of the Labour Party (LP).

INEC in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the National Chairman of the Commission on Thursday in Abuja, the commission stated that it has become imperative for it to make the clarification in the face of misleading reports in some sections of the media insinuating that it has taken decision on the two Supreme Court rulings on the leadership of both the PDP and LP.

Part of the INEC statement reads:

“The names of the National Officers of the LP had previously been uploaded to our website following a court order, not related in any way to the latest judgement of the Supreme Court.”

“In the same manner, the name of the National Secretary of the PDP on the same website was neither deleted nor reinstated.”

“As a law-abiding institution, the Commission is carefully studying the judgement of the Supreme Court on the Labour Party and will communicate its decision to the public in due course.”

In the PDP, some self-appointed stakeholders have been sponsoring media reports to the effect that an Acting National Secretary had been appointed for the party, while the sacked Julius Abure-led factional executive committee of the Labour Party has also claimed that it has been reinstated.
