Professor (Mrs.) Omonzejiehas been appointed the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
A professor of French and Francophone African Literatures, Mrs, Omonzejie has been an integral part of the academic successes of the Department of Modern Languages, AAU where she has held various management positions.
Prof. Omonzejie’s appointment was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

The statement read in part, “The Edo State Government wishes to inform the general public that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, has approved the appointment of Professor (Mrs.) Eunice Eboserehimen Omonzejie as the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, with immediate effect. The appointment was made from amongst three (03) names recommended to the Governor by the Governing Council of the University.
The new Vice Chancellor is a prolific researcher and editor, with contributions to African and Francophone literary studies, gender studies, and cultural studies.
According to the statement, Prof. Omonzejie has served as the President of the Ambrose Alli University Chapter of the National Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), where she has championed mentoring, research, and advocacy for female academics and students. Professor Omonzejie has co-edited several seminal works including French Language in Nigeria: Essays in Honour of UFTAN Pacesetters and Language Matters in Contemporary West Africa, and is the author of Women Novelists in Francophone Black Africa: Views, Reviews and Interviews.
Her appointment is a testament to her academic excellence, administrative experience, and commitment to the growth and development of Ambrose Alli University.
The Edo State Government while congratulating the new VC on her appointment charged her to bring her wealth of experience and leadership skills to bear in advancing the institution’s mandate of producing world-class graduates and driving research and innovation.
