Former Chief Whip of the Senate and lawmaker representing Borno South Senator, Senator Ali Ndume has rejected his newly assigned office on the 3rd floor of the Senate Building.
Ndume as the Chief Whip in line with the tradition of the Senate had his office on the 4th floor.
However, after he was removed by the President of the Senate as a principal officer, he was allocated a new office on the 3rd floor (3.10).
Reacting to the allocation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker through a letter signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Yati Shuaibu Gawu rejected the new office on the basis that he is the second most senior lawmaker in the Senate who by tradition should have his office on the 4th floor.
The rejection letter reads in part:
“I am directed to inform you that Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee.
“This is because offices are traditionally allocated on seniority basis.
“Sen Ndume is the most Senior Senator after Sen Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor.”
