The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has described the death of a renowned Islamic scholar and leader of the Tijjaniya sect, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, as a huge loss to the nation.
Speaker Abbas said Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s case was that of “a life well spent”, as he devoted his entire life to the teaching of Islam and guiding the Islamic Ummah to the worship of Allah.
Expressing deep sorrow over the passing of the late Islamic scholar, Speaker Abbas recalled Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s role in bringing peace and unity to the Nigerian society.
In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi on Thursday, the Speaker paid glowing tributes to the late Tijjaniya leader, saying he has left behind a legacy of service to humanity, dedication, selflessness, and positive impact.
The Speaker added that the revered Islamic scholar was a bridge and consensus builder, an embodiment of peace and unity.

“Inna lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihir Raji’un. We have lost a rare gem. The death of our father and revered Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, is indeed a big loss to the Muslim world.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s extensive work on Islamic scholarship, propagation of the religion, and moral upbringing in the society are well documented. Not only did he propagate moderation, but he also lent his voice vigorously to religious tolerance, togetherness, and devotion. Until his passing, he was one of the most respected voices in our nation.
“His life and time were characterized by good conduct and profound knowledge. His was a purposeful life—one well spent. He lived an exemplary life full of courage, resilience, integrity, and honesty. He inspired and motivated the whole society. His impact and influence are legion.
“He was not just an Islamic scholar; he was also a leader and an icon who brought people together for a good cause. He has traversed the Islamic world with his in-depth knowledge. There is hardly anywhere in the Islamic world where the late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was not known.
“For nearly 10 decades, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi dedicated himself selflessly and raised a community of scholars, who I believe would carry on with his legacy. Posterity would be kind to him. He would be remembered for his kindness, sincerity, piety, humility, patience, forgiving nature, righteousness, and wisdom.
“My prayers are with members of his immediate family, his millions of followers, and the entire Muslim Ummah. May Allah give us all the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. I also pray to Allah (SWT) to have mercy on his soul and reward him with a special place in Jannatul Firdaus,” the speaker said.
The speaker equally sent his heartfelt condolences to the people and the government of Bauchi State over the loss.
