Senate Minority Leader Advocates Urgent Action On Borno Floods, Calls on Nigerians to Heed Early Warnings

Senator Abba Moro saddened by ravaging floods in parts of the country, calls for urgent actions

 

The Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro has expressed sadness over the heavy flood that ravaged Maiduguri and other parts of Borno State.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, in Abuja on Wednesday, the Benue South lawmaker  expressed his “sympathies  with the governments and peoples of Bauchi, Borno and other states of the federation being ravaged by floods.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker called on the federal government and its relevant agencies to quickly step in to cushion the effect of the massive flood.

“The Senate Minority Leader sends his heartfelt condolences to families and friends of those who have lost their lives and properties, and identifies with the governments of the affected states.

“The senator calls on the federal government and relevant government agencies to take urgent steps to evacuate those trapped and also ensure conducive environment for those displaced and in IDP camps.

“Senator Moro urges Nigerians in danger zones to be at alert and not hesitate to move to safer places to avoid being caught up in the web of the rampaging floods,” the statement read in part.
