Kelechi Iheanacho Completes Move to Sevilla

 

 

 

 

Nigerian Super Eagles player, Kelechi Iheanacho has completed his transfer to Sevilla on a free transfer, signing two-year contract.

 

The 27-year-old arrived at the Spanish La Liga club for his medical on Tuesday, which was concluded on Wednesday, followed by the signing of the contract that makes him the club’s fifth summer signing after Nigeria teammate Chidera Ejuke, Peque, Saúl and Lokonga.

 

The former Leicester City striker signed for two seasons, with the option for one more, arrived on a free transfer after his time at Leicester City.

 

In 2017, Iheanacho joined Leicester City, a club where he had already spent some time on loan in the youth academy. With the then recent He played a total of 232 matches in all competitions, with 61 goals and 34 assists during this last period which extended until 23-24 campaign.

 

The new Sevilla striker has also played a total of 19 European competition matches: seven in the Champions League, 11 in the UEFA Europa League, and one in the Conference League.

 

As for his numbers with the senior team, it is worth noting that to date he has played 55 matches and scored 19 goals.

 

His greatest achievement came in 2015 with the conquest of the U-17 World Cup in Chile, helping Nigeria to their fifth record triumph and bagging the golden ball as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

 

Although it may seem that Sevilla is not complete in its forward line, the signing of Iheanacho will come as a boost to team as it prepares for the upcoming football season.
