Nigerian gospel music super star, and convener of the online praise and prayer vigil, Halleujah Challenge, Nathaniel Bassey, has exceeded one billion views on YouTube.
Mr. Bassey who has 5.25million subscribers on YouTube is now the first African gospel artist to achieve the milestone.
| Going by figures displayed on Bassey’s official YouTube channel, Nathaniel Bassey Main, the now globally popular Christian month-long praise programme, has amassed a whopping 1,014,544,577 as at November 3, 2026.
The Nathaniel Bassey Main YouTube Channel was created in 2011. He, however, founded the Hallelujah Challenge in 2017; an online praise and worship session. |
Initially launched as an online worship gathering, the Hallelujah Challenge has grown into an international Christian movement, with thousands of people participating in its live sessions and millions more watching recorded editions.

Bassey is known for popular gospel songs such as Olorun Agbaye, Tobechukwu, Imela, Onise Iyanu, Olowogbogboro and You Are God, which have contributed to his popularity among gospel music audiences in Nigeria and beyond.
The one-billion-view milestone has generated excitement among his followers, with some suggesting that the minister could explore opportunities to monetise the growing audience of his online worship sessions.
Bassey has maintained that the Hallelujah Challenge is primarily focused on worship and spiritual devotion rather than revenue generation
