Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called on President Bola Tinubu to take steps to reconcile the differences between the Chairman of Progressives Governors Forum  and governor of Io State, Senator Hope Uzodimma and the minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike over the cold war between the two ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike is the leader of Rainbow Coalition involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The Coalition has drawn flaks from some APC  Governors led by Sen Hope Uzodimma (Imo State) and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State who say that Wike was supporting candidates against their interests in the states.  The altercation became open when Gov Uzodimma called on President Tinubu to dismantle the Rainbow Coalition.

Speaking on the crisis in a video interview shared on his social media platforms from the US, Senator Uzor Kalu, a former governor of Abia State stated that the FCT minister and his “ Rainbow Coalition Movement” has  “ a lot to offer”  President Tinubu ahead of the election and therefore, should not be discarded.

The former governor who described the altercation as an “ ego fight” between the two leading politicians said  reiterated that “ Wike has got a lot to offer, the Governors Forum has a lot to offer”  too so  “ I don’t think there should be crack in the party, progressives governors forum places a lot of value to our party, Wike’s Rainbow Coalition places a lot of value to our party, I think the President should intervene so that we don’t get hurt in the next election.”

Urging collaboration amongst politicians supporting Tinubu’s relection, Sen Kalu argued that “nobody should be left behind, the more the merrier.”
