Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the National Vice Chairman, South South of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died.
Late Orbih who was also a two-time Edo State Chairman of the PDP was aged 64.
The death the Edo born politician who was a close ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike was confirmed on Tuesday through a statement signed by the family and shared by the media assistant to the FCT minister, Mr. Lere Olayinka indicates that Chief Orbih died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Part of the statement reads: “With profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the almighty God, the family of Chief M.C.K. Orbih announce the passing of our beloved brother, husband, father and uncle, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, who passed away on Monday, 31 August 202
“He is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his brothers and sisters; as well as other members of the extended family.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss.
“Further details will be announced in due course. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
Until his death, Chief Orbih was the Chairman, Governing Council of the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma.
Reacting to the death of Chief Orbih, immediate past governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki who described the late politician as a “prominent son of Edo State” condoled with the family.
Obaseki who is currently living in the United States of America noted that late Chief Orbih contributed immensely to the development of Edo State.

“For many years, he provided leadership to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State as its State Chairman and subsequently served as the PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South.
“Through these roles, he contributed significantly to the development of the party in the Edo State and Nigeria, ” he said.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, his friends, political associates, colleagues and numerous well-wishers.
“I particularly sympathise with his wife, children and loved ones at this difficult time
The late PDP chieftain was born on October 27, 1961, at Ogbona, in Etsako Central Local Government Area, Edo State
