Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in Osun barely three hours after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
In an interview with PUNCH newspaper on Tuesday, the spokesperson of the Osun Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the arrest of the embattled DG who has been evading security agencies for weeks now.
According to the police, Adeniyi was arrested in his hideout by the Intelligence Response Team from Abuja.
“Yes, it is confirmed.  The Intelligence Response Team from Abuja arrested him here in Osun,” confirmed to the media.
In a video later circulated online, the embattled DG is seen being questioned by the police who demanded that he identify himself.
He was asked to identify himself, but he initially declined insisting that he already did that.
“I’ve mentioned it, sir,” he insisted when asked.
However, when the police officers insisted, demanding, the he should “Mention it for us, please. What is your name? What is your name?” Adeyemi retorted, “I’ve said it several times.”
Justuce Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court Abuja had earlier ordered his arrest following his failure to appear for arraignment over alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
Justice Umar, while ruling on the prosecution’s application, dismissed arguments by Adeyemi’s lawyer that his client stayed away because he feared for his life.
Despite the position of Adeyemi’s lawyer, Justice Umar adjounrned the hearing on the matter to September 30, 2026, for arraignment.

With his arrest, Adeyemi will remain in the custody of the Nigerian Police until September 3oth, 2026 when he will be arraigned.

In an interview with Channels TV on Monday, Adeyemi had confidently said that, “I’m ready to show my face. I’m not hiding. I’m only fearing for my life because I have it on good authority that my life is in danger.
“There have been several attempts on my life.”
He had told the TV station that he borrowed the N400 million he allegedly bribed senior government officials with, including to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.
