The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Cross River State has said that the last three years in the state under Governor Bassey Otu have been years of “broken promises and wasted opportunities.”
In a press statement signed by the PDP state Publicity Secretary, Mike Ojisi, the opposition party asserted that the governor has not made judicious use of monies that have accrued to the state for the last three years
The parry note that the State has nothing to show for the enormous resources from the federation account, improve internally generated revenue, and multiple intervention funds at its disposal.
It said rather than tangible development, the people have been subjected to endless propaganda, cosmetic public relations exercises, and carefully scripted media narratives designed to conceal the frightening absence of real governance.
According to the statement, we consider it necessary to remind the people of the painful realities behind the empty slogans and media spectacles.
“After three years in office, it has become glaringly evident that the much-advertised “Season of Sweetness” has translated into a bitter experience for the overwhelming majority of Cross Riverians.

“What was presented as an era of economic revival, infrastructural transformation, and people-centred governance has turned into a disappointing season of stagnation, misplaced priorities, and unprecedented governmental inertia.”
“While other states are commissioning projects, Governor Bassey Otu is running away from the state to Abuja to host another round of jamboree-making and image-laundering media stunts.
“The disconnect between government propaganda and the harsh realities on the ground has never been more alarming.
“Across the state, roads remain in deplorable condition, many rural communities have been completely abandoned, and unemployment continues to rise at an unbearable rate.
“Businesses are collapsing daily under the crushing weight of economic hardship and government neglect.”
The opposition party noted that governance is not about rehearsed slogans, endless ceremonies, or organising grandiose religious assemblies while the people suffer.
The PDP urged the governor to provide purposeful leadership by attending to the people’s critical needs.
“The people deserve answers, not excuses. They deserve development, not deception. They deserve purposeful governance, not endless public relations theatrics
