The apex court on Wednesday after hearing the substantive appeal brought by Mr. Kabiru Turaki against the judgement of the Court of Appeal that affirmed the rulings of the Federal High Court Abuja and Federal High Court Ibadan.

The lower courts had in their separate judgments in the suits filed the Chairmen of the PDP Imo and Abia states as well as the suit filed at the Federal High Court Ibadan on behalf of Mr. Turaki led leadership nullified and set aside of the ill-fated factional national convention piloted by the duo of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Bauchi State counterpart, Mr. Bala Mohammed. While the Abuja court which delivered judgement first warned the PDP from going forward with the November 15, 2025 convention in Ibadan without fulfilling the party’s constitutional requirement for organising a national convention, the Ibadan court summarily quashed the convention for not being compliant with the party constitution and extant electoral laws.
The appeal in the apex court has Sule Lamido, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Austin Nwachukwu and two others as respondents.
In the last sitting the apex court had granted accelerated hearing of the appeals due to prevailing forthcoming electioneering activities as already announced by INEC.
