The Plateau State Government has announced the relaxation of the curfew imposed on parts of Jos, the State capital at the wake of the Angwa Rukuba killings which threw the North Central State into panic.

In a public announcement made on Wednesday and signed by the state’s commissioner for Information, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the ease of the curfew time follows extensive consultations and collaboration with security agencies and citizens of the affected areas.

“In view of satisfactory improvement on the security situation in Jos North LGA and environs, the Plateau State Government, in consultation with security agencies, wishes to further relax the curfew imposed in the wake of recent disturbances.

 

“Consequently, as from Wednesday, 15th April 2026, curfew hours will be between 7 p.m to 5 a.m. Therefore, citizens within the area affected by curfew are advised to adhere strictly to the stipulated restricted period.

 

“The government of Plateau State acknowledges the cooperation demonstrated by citizens towards achieving the present level of security. Government urges citizens to sustain the spirit as we collectively work towards restoring normalcy to Jos North and Plateau State at large.

‎Angwa Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area of the state was invaded by suspected armed Fulani militia on Easter Sunday and unleashed violence on residents.

The invaders embarked on a killing spree that left close to 50 residents dead.

 

There were skirmishes tĥat followed that led the government to impose an initial total lock down on the affected areas to prevent reprisal attacks.
