The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a major operational success following a precision airstrike on a terrorist stronghold in Kangarwa, located in the Northern Tumbuns area of Borno State.
The strike, executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeted a key insurgent enclave after credible intelligence reports and sustained aerial surveillance confirmed heightened terrorist activity in the area.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that NAF air assets conducted coordinated and aggressive missions following positive identification of the targets. He noted that the operation led to the destruction of critical infrastructure, including logistics hubs used by the insurgents.

Ejodame further revealed that several fighters were neutralised during the bombardment, significantly degrading the operational capacity of the terrorist group and disrupting their movement within the region.
The Northern Tumbuns, known for its difficult terrain and history as a hideout for insurgent elements, has long posed a challenge to military operations. However, the latest airstrike marks a decisive step in dismantling terrorist networks operating within the axis.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, reiterated the Air Force’s commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at eliminating all terrorist strongholds across the country.
He emphasized that the NAF, in collaboration with other security agencies, will continue to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability in the North-East region.
Security analysts say the successful strike underscores the growing effectiveness of coordinated military strategies and advanced surveillance capabilities in Nigeria’s ongoing counterinsurgency campaign.
