The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has declared Iranian military and security attachés in Doha persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours amid rising diplomatic tensions between both nations.
In an official diplomatic note issued to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Qatar, Qatari authorities directed not only the attachés but also all staff associated with their offices to exit the country within the stipulated timeframe.

The decision was formally communicated during a meeting between the Director of Protocol at the ministry, Ibrahim Yousif Fakhro, and Iran’s ambassador to Qatar, Ali Salehabadi, in the capital city of Doha.
According to the ministry, the expulsion follows what it described as “repeated targeting” and “blatant aggression” attributed to the Iran, actions it said posed a direct threat to Qatar’s sovereignty and national security.
In a strongly worded statement, Qatari authorities accused Iran of violating international law, including obligations linked to United Nations Security Council resolutions. The ministry further noted that such actions undermine established principles of good neighborliness and diplomatic conduct.
Qatar warned that any continuation of what it termed hostile behavior could result in additional diplomatic and security measures. The government reaffirmed its commitment to defending its territorial integrity and protecting national interests.
Officials emphasized that Qatar reserves the right to take all necessary steps—within the bounds of international law—to safeguard its sovereignty, signaling a potential escalation if tensions persist.
The development marks a significant strain in relations between Doha and Tehran, raising concerns over stability in the Gulf region as both countries navigate an increasingly tense diplomatic landscape.
