Dr David Olofu, former Benue State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning and aspirant for the 2027 Benue South Senatorial seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has unveiled a comprehensive development agenda aimed at repositioning the district for inclusive growth and sustainable prosperity.
Olofu presented the agenda on Friday during a robust interactive session with key Benue stakeholders across party lines and professional backgrounds at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Abuja.
Speaking at the forum, Olofu said his legislative vision is anchored on the principles of People, Power, Prosperity and Progress, stressing that effective representation must translate into measurable improvements in the lives of the people.
He identified education, healthcare, agriculture, entrepreneurship, ICT, infrastructure, security, and local government reforms as critical pillars of his agenda. According to him, priority would be given to strengthening STEAM education, rehabilitating primary healthcare centres, expanding access to the National Health Insurance Scheme, and transforming agriculture from subsistence to a market-driven and industrialised sector.

Olofu also outlined plans to promote youth employment through entrepreneurship support, digital skills training, ICT hubs, agro-processing clusters, and cooperative-driven enterprise models across communities.
On security, he called for a holistic approach combining law enforcement, peacebuilding, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, community engagement, and technology-driven intelligence gathering to restore peace and stability across Benue South.
He further pledged to pursue equity in national resource allocation, effective legislative oversight, and active participation in the national budgeting process to ensure Benue South priorities are adequately captured and implemented.
As part of inclusive governance, Olofu proposed the establishment of a non-partisan Benue South Peoples Assembly and a Benue South Peoples Council to harmonise development priorities, monitor projects, and strengthen grassroots accountability.
Stakeholders at the event, including Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, Chief John Ochoga, Ambassador Ogbe Obande, Dr. Kevin Odatse, Dr Peter Adejor, Gen. Monday Morgan, Sir John Ngbede, Mrs Abeje Egwa, Comrade Dan Atayi, and Hon. Hassan Sale, commended Olofu’s vision and described it as pragmatic and people-oriented.
Many of them pledged to mobilise political and grassroots support for his senatorial ambition, noting that his experience in economic planning positions him to deliver effective representation for Benue South at the National Assembly.
