The Department of State Services (DSS) had alerted residents and security operatives in Ondo and Kogi states of imminent attacks by ISWAP terrorists in some locations in the two states.
According to a security alert dated October 20, 2025 and signed by the Director of the DSS in Ondo State, HI Kana, the terrorists have been confirmed to have mounted surveillance on “soft targets” in the two states.
The DSS statement indicates that Akoko North areas and Owo in Ondo State are among the places the terrorists plan to attack.
Recall that terrorists who used Kogi State as base some years back blew up a Catholic Church in Owo in a coordinated terrorist action that traumatised the Owo community and left scores dead.
The DSS alert is one of series of alarms already raised against worsening security situation across Nigeria.
