Ondo Senator Urges FUTA Students to Imbibe Good Leadership Skills

Senator Olajide Ipinsagba has urged students of the Federal University of Technology (FUTA), Akure, Ondo State to imbibe good leadership qualities as leaders of tomorrow.

Sen. Ipinsagba who represents Ondo North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) gave the charge on Wednesday when he received in his office, Students Representative Council (SRC) of FUTA led by its speaker, Comrade Daniel Adewale.

 

FUTA Students Representative Council who were at the national assembly to witness the proceedings of the upper chamber as student Parliamentarians, also  used the opportunity to pay a scheduled courtesy call to Senator Ipinsagba whom they described as a respected Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In his address to the students, the federal lawmaker said that learning is an act therefore, enjoined them to learn better ways of leading others where they are in position of authority.

 

He said, “You are here to witness the Senate proceedings. This is a learning process. Like I said, you are the mediation of the leadership of tomorrow. You need to get it right from the beginning. You need to learn it so that by tomorrow, when you are moving gradually to the hierarchy or to the staircase of leadership, you know better what leadership is all about.

 

“I welcome you again to the National Assembly and advised that as you go back to your school, shun any activity that will not bring unity among you and pay attention to those things that will make you better leaders tomorrow.

 

Earlier in his speech, the speaker of FUTA SRC, Daniel Adewale said the purpose of their visit was to carry out their normal parliamentary visits as student legislators.

 

“And the purpose of the parliamentary visit is to go out to national assembly, House of assemblies of states, to learn and gain more insight about legislation and understand what legislation really means. And today, observing the Plenary Session of the Nigerian Senate, we’ve been able to get a lot of understanding about how bills are being passed and so on.”
