Suspected Suicide Bomber killed in Abuja [UPDATED]

One yet to be identified person has been reportedly killed while another person injured by an explosive device suspected to be a bomb in around the Mogadishu barracks in Abuja.

 

An eyewitness who spoke to AIT in Abuja said that the victim,  a man believed is believed  to be a suicide bomber.

Details of the incident is still  sketchy as military authorities have cordoned off the area.

Confirming the incident, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command issued a statement, noting that the explosion occurred at approximately 2:50 PM on May 26th, 2025.

According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, “Upon receipt of the report, officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit were immediately deployed to the scene. The affected area was swiftly cordoned off for analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.”

 

The police confirmed that “One male victim was rescued at the scene and promptly taken to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.” However, no official confirmation has been given regarding the reported fatality.

 

The Command stated that a comprehensive investigation is underway, including detailed forensic analysis, to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.

 

While urging calm, the statement added, “There is currently no cause for alarm. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the nearest police station or via the emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653.”
