Senator Ali Ndume, the lawmaker representing Borno South in the Senate has called on President Bola Tinubu to withdraw the recently submitted list of ambassador designate nominees for not conforming with the federal character principle enshrined in the Nigerian constitution 1999 (as amended).
Senator Ndume, a former Leader of the Senate in a statement he issued to the media on Saturday stated that the list which was sent the Senate b President Tinubu last Thursday was lopsided and does not meet constitutional requirement or reflect the diversity of the country as prescribed in Section 14(3) of the Constitution 199 (as amended).
Senator Ndume noted that while some states have as many as three or four nominees, others have none, including Gombe State.
Senator Ndume also noted that the list was not diligent noting that Senator Adamu Garba Talba who is the Yobe State died five months ago in July 2025.

According to former Senate Leader, this shows that the Northeast of six states has only six nominees.
He therefore, stated that, “I appeal to him to withdraw the list and present a fresh set of nominees that align with the spirit of the Constitution.”
Senator Ndume is well known outspoken lawmaker, he was removed as a Senate Leader for being too critical of the administration.
