Vice-President Francia Márquez of Colombia has arrived Abuja for her three-day official visit to Nigeria.
VP Márquez is accompanied on the visit by her spouse, Rafael Ocoró and other top officials.
Ms. Márquez arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja where she was received by strong delegation led by the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr. Uche Nnaji, Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim and Minister of State for the FCT, Hajia Mariya Bunkure.
Other senior government officials including the Director-general of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar were among the welcome team.
FACTSHEET reports that the Colombian Vice President’s visit is expected to deepen diplomatic and strategic relations between Nigeria and Colombia.

Earlier, Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima revealed that the visit will also enhance collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security, among others.
Sources at the Presidency indicate that a key highlight of the visit will be the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in strategic areas of the economy, including women empowerment, trade, aviation, manufacturing, agriculture, and culture, among others.
The visit will feature a plenary session to be graced by both vice presidents and the Nigeria-Colombia Business Forum; government-to-government bilateral meetings.
Some other side events will include high-level business sector meetings to be hosted by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment. There is also a planned summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
