TRIBUTE: Ogbonnaya Onu Was a ‘Statesman who Embodied Patriotism, Service to Humanity’- VP Shettima

Vice President, Kashim Shettima has said that Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu was a “statesman who embodied the values of patriotism and service to humanity.”

In a letter of tribute the Vice president personally addressed to the family of the deceased first Executive Governor of Abia State, VP Shettima recounted the immense contributions of late Dr. Onu, especially in the areas of advancement of science and technology in Nigeria both as a scientist and later a minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in Nigeria.

The VP noted that “beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Onu was a man of great character, and wisdom.”

Dr. Onu who died on April 11, 2024 at age of 72 will be laid to rest on November after series of tributes including a national day of tribute slated to hold on November 4, 2024 at the Yar’Dua Centre, Abuja.
