President Bola Tinubu has congratulated former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on his 68th birthday, praising his democratic spirit and contributions to governance.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu described Osinbajo as a “longtime ally, friend, and brother,” acknowledging the role he played as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during Tinubu’s tenure as Lagos State Governor, where they collaborated on significant political and judicial reforms.
Reflecting on Osinbajo’s bid for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023, Tinubu noted that Osinbajo exercised his “democratic right and freedom” by contesting in the primaries.

“Professor Yemi Osinbajo will always remain my friend and associate,” Tinubu said. “He served our country meritoriously as Vice President to that patriotic leader, President Muhammadu Buhari. He made all of us in the All Progressives Congress proud by working collaboratively and harmoniously with the president without rancour.”
The President also commended Osinbajo’s performance when he briefly assumed the role of Acting President during Buhari’s medical leave, saying he proved his competence and leadership during that period.
Highlighting Osinbajo’s accomplishments, Tinubu noted his contributions as a Professor of Law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, lauding his efforts in delivering good governance and critical infrastructural projects for the nation alongside former President Buhari.
Tinubu joined Osinbajo’s family — particularly his wife, Dolapo, and their children — as well as friends and associates, in celebrating the former Vice President, wishing him continued health, success, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Osinbajo served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 2015 to 2023.
