Super Eagles skipper and Besiktas forward , Wilfred Ndidi, has lost his father, Mr. Sunday Ndidi in a road crash which occurred on Tuesday at Umunede, Delta State.
The senior Ndidi, a retired military officer according to eyewitness account was confirmed dead at a hospital in Agbor where he was rushed to after he was rescued from the accident scene.
Wilfred’s club, Besiktas, has also confirmed the incident in a statement shared on their official X handle on Tuesday.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of our footballer Wilfred Ndidi’s esteemed father, Sunday Ndidi, in a fatal traffic accident.”
“May Allah grant mercy to the deceased; we extend our condolences to our footballer Wilfred Ndidi, his family, and loved ones.”
Wilfred led the Nigerian Super Eagles to the 2025 edition of the African Cup of Nations in Morocco where the team finished in 3rd place.
