The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi, and a Bauchi-based Islamic cleric, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz.
The Speaker said the passing of the two eminent personalities was a deep loss not just to their families but also to society as a whole.
The late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi, passed away a few days ago at the age of 92. He was a member of the Kano Emirate Council since the late 1950s. He was first appointed Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida and District Head of Ungogo in 1959 by his father, Emir Sanusi I.
In 1962, during the reign of Emir Muhammadu Inuwa, he was elevated to Dan Iyan Kano, and later, under Emir Ado Bayero, he became Wamban Kano. He was made the Galadiman Kano by his nephew, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II.
The Speaker recalled the critical role the late Galadiman Kano played in the peace and unity of Kano State and the North, saying he would be sorely missed.

He described the late Alhaji Abbas Sunusi as a pillar who would be remembered for his selfless service and sacrifices to humanity.
Speaker Abbas prayed Allah to have mercy on the soul of the late Galadiman Kano and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
He sent his heartfelt condolences to the Kano Emirate Council, the government, and the people of Kano State.
Similarly, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz, who was a prominent Islamic cleric based in Bauchi, died on Thursday night after an illness. Dr. Abdulaziz was known for his Islamic preaching and da’awah.
The Speaker extended his condolences to the family and the teaming followers of the late Islamic cleric.
Speaker Abbas prayed to Allah to forgive the late cleric and make Jannatul Firdaus his final abode.
