Speaker Abbas mourns ex-Rep, Lagos APC chieftain, Aro-Lambo
The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has commiserated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) family over the death of a chieftain of the ruling party and former member of the House, Honourable Gausudeen Omotilewa Aro-Lambo.
Born on June 8, 1944, Aro-Lambo died on May 23, 2024.
Speaker Abbas, who described the late Aro-Lambo as a strong pillar in the APC, lamented that his death would leave a great vacuum in the party’s structure in Lagos.
The Speaker noted that Aro-Lambo was a thoroughbred politician who had immense experience in the executive and legislative arms of the government as well as an expert in grassroots politics.
Speaker Abbas commiserated with the Aro-Lambo family and the APC family as well as the people and the government of Lagos State, while praying to Allah to grant the deceased Jannatul Firdaus.
Aro-Lambo was a key member of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), which produced the late Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande as the first civilian Governor of Lagos State in the Second Republic. He was elected member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Lagos Island Local Government under the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the botched Third Republic.
Aro-Lambo was also a leader in the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), which led to the fight against military rule and restoration of democracy.
