“Your solidarity, your voices, and your courage fuel this struggle for justice and freedom. This milestone is not just mine it belongs to all of us.

“Thank you. The fight continues.”

Sowore who is the publisher of leading Nigerian online newspaper, Sahara Reporters has recently been locked in a battle of wits with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun whom  the activist has tagged “illegal Inspector General of Police” insisting that the police boss’ continued stay in office violates all civil service and police rules.

Sowore has for over 30 years remained a strong voice against Nigeria’s “fantastically corrupt” ruling elite. His activism has led to countless brutal arrests, detentions and torture from Nigerian authorities.
