Sen. Uche Ekwunife Finally Dumps PDP, Joins APC
The immediate past lawmaker representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the Senate, Uche Ekwunife has once again rejoined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Senator Ekwunife who contested the governorship of Anambra State last year on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also until June 2023 represented Anambra Central on the platform of the PDP.
A close associate of the former lawmaker who spoke to FACTSHEET confirmed that she has joined the APC. According to the associate who craved anonymity said that, “Iyom [as Ekwunife is fondly called] has joined the APC and this time she is not thinking of joining another party again.”
To further confirm the development, Sen. Ekwunife is also listed as a member of the APC Campaign council in Imo State ahead of the November 2023 governorship election in that state.
It will be recalled that Sen. Ekwunife in 2016 when she lost her seat at the senate to Sen. Victor Umeh also decamped to the APC claiming that “the confusion in the PDP cannot do any people any good.” She later rejoined the PDP where she contested and won the Anambra Central Senate seat that she served out in June 2023 haven once again lost to Sen. Victor Umeh of the Labour Party (LP).
