Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has dared the Kogi State Government and the Nigeria Police over the elaborate plans to ensure that the embattled federal lawmaker did not attend a home-coming rally planned by her constituents.
The suspended lawmaker who arrived her Okehi Local Government home in a helicopter to a rousing welcome by thousands of her constituents declared that nobody could stop her from coming home, declaring that she is not a “bastard.”
The Kogi State governor, Mr. Usman Ododo had banned all forms of rally and convoy movement in the state, while the chairman of Okehi Local Government Area also imposed Aa curfew in the local government, the Nigeria Police, Kogi State command advised the lawmaker to stay away from the state due to security reasons.
However, amidst all the threats, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived the venue of the home-coming rally where she declared:
“Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I’m an Ebira woman; this is my land. I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots; I’m not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody!”
The suspended lawmaker has taken on the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio whom she accused of sexually harassing her. The accusation has inflamed emotions both in the National Assembly and among Nigerian public who see the ordeals of the lawmaker as a sign of ubiquitous oppression of women in politics in Nigeria.
Speaking to the crowd of supporters, the Kogi Central Senator who is also facing a recall from a section of her constituents accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of guiding her political enemies in their “illicit acts” of trying to recall her.
She said, “From my personal perspective, what I see INEC doing is aiding and guiding petitioners on how to perfect their illicit acts.

“The first time the petition was submitted, they didn’t have address, phone numbers and all of that but INEC is out to guide them how to submit information that will perfect the petition.
“The petitioners, who were from the other party, the APC, now submitted a letterhead with an address that does not exist.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also accused a former governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello of colluding with Senator Godswill Akpabio to kill her in Kogi State haven realized that it may be difficult to recall her from the Senate.
According to her, “On the 13th of March at 10:00 pm, mind you, two days before that, Akpabio had called Governor Ododo on the phone to commence my recall but Ododo told him it would be impossible.
“Ododo told Akpabio that the recall will be impossible because the masses are with me. But Akpabio was not satisfied so he called Yahaya Bello. I was informed of everything.
“The meeting was on two folds – they told him to commence my recall and that he was going to fund it.
“The second thing he said was that he should try and kill me. I didn’t make this public, but I have written to the IG of Police.
“Akpabio told Yahaya Bello that he should make sure that killing me does not happen in Abuja, that it should happen here so that it will look as if it was the people that killed me here.”
Earlier, the lawmaker raised alarm in a social media post alerting the public that there may be plans by her traducers to infiltrate the home-coming rally organised by her constituents.
Her post reads:, “My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our peaceful Sallah celebrations today.
“However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Òdodo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”
