REVEALED: List of 41 Nigerians that Own Private Jets
Nigeria has always been reputed to be Africa’s economic powerhouse despite its ranking as the poverty capital of the world.
Indeed as the economic powerhouse of sub-Sahara Africa, Nigeria also boasts of the most number of millionaires in Africa.
From businessmen, culture ambassadors, sportsmen and women, music and movie stars, and politicians Nigeria has abundance of rich people.
Ownership of private jet is one of the parameters of ranking the rich in many parts of the world. This is so because private jets offer an exclusivity that only the very rich can afford. These “birds” as most of their owner fondly call them don’t usually come cheap just as their maintenance is a “big deal” any day.
Though Nigeria has a horrible record in terms of modern aviation facilities, Nigerian rich people are not doing as bad in private jet ownership. According to aviation enthusiasts, Nigeria boast of more than 200 private jet owners, but most owners don’t want to be identified as being owners for various personal and public reasons.
For example, most Nigerian politicians, especially governors are reputed to be private owners, but due to the questionable sources of their income, they will rather pretend that the private jets they own are “hired.”
Also, many Nigerians own private jets but the aircrafts are registered in neigbouring countries including Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Ghana, Togo as far flung as Cape Verde. Many of these aircrafts are parked in hangers at the countries where they are registered, especially considering the known fact that charges in hangers and other ancillary needs and requirements are most expensive in Nigeria.
