The Chairman House of Representative Commitee on Public Account,.Rep. Bamidele Salam has extended warm congratulations to Comrade Grace Ike on her election as the first female Chairman of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter.
Her emergence as the first female chairman is coming after forty one years (41 years)
In a congratulatory letter addressed to Comrade Ike, Salam described her emergence as a well-deserved recognition of her professionalism, dedication, and outstanding contributions to journalism over the years.
He noted that her victory reflects the trust and confidence her colleagues have in her ability to lead one of the most vibrant and critical chapters of the NUJ.
He said “The media remains an indispensable pillar of democracy, and under your leadership, I am confident that the FCT NUJ will continue to uphold the principles of fairness, accountability, and truth in reportage,” Salam wrote.
The lawmaker further assured Comrade Ike of his unwavering support and collaboration, wishing her a successful tenure as she steers the union towards greater achievements.
Salam further reiterating his belief in her capacity to strengthen the role of the media in fostering democratic values and promoting professional journalism in Nigeria.
